This is a true story. This is the story of the most horrifying night of my life. It was nearing Christmas and the snow was falling thickly as my family gathered around the piano to sing carols. My mother was immersed in her annual Christmas baking frenzy. She sang along as she mixed up a batch of gingerbread dough. "Mom, can we make a gingerbread house?", I asked. I had seen them at coutless Christmas bizarres and had always wanted to build on of my own. She looked over at me and said, "No dear, I'm making gingerbread men this year." "Can I help?", I asked. "Sure." "This batch is already to be iced," she said, handing me a tray of cookies, and a bowl of white icing. I sat down at the table singing along with the carols straining to reach that final high note in holy night. I drew a smiling face on all of the gingerbread men and stoped to admire my handy work. I sat starring as I saw that one of the gingerbread men was no longer smiling but bore a decidingly menacing expression. It seemed to be looking straight at me. I shook my head and whiped the icing away. I re-drew the smiling face, but again the icing seemed to move to become angry and sinister. I drew it once again, but the smile persisted to form an evil smear. I gave up on the man and moved on to adding the buttons. I put three blue buttons on each man, but when I looked back, all of the buttons on that one gingerbread man were black. This is too weird I thought. I must be going crazy. "Here mom, they're done," I said aloud, handing her the sheet. "thanks dear" she said, and popped the tray in the oven. Later, when the cookies were done and cool, I found the grimacing gingerbread goon, and quite deliberatley bit off his head. I finished the cookie and went back to my room to finish wrapping my presents. When I reached my room, however, i suddenly doubled over as a terrible shooting pain lanced through my stomach, staggered over to the bed and laid down. Immediately I fell into a deep sleep. I was standing atop a high hill. The clouds over head were dark and murky and a thick fog obscured the land below. I turned around putting my back to the howling wind suddenly before me I saw something so immense, so horrible enormous that is boggled my imagination. Towering over me frowning a frown so furious, it felt almost flattening, was...The Gingerbread man. It was not just any gingerbread man, it was the evil gingerbread man. "Did I taste good?" he taunted, in a voice like a thunder. "Did you enjoy my flavor as you decappitated me?" I shreiked in terror as he reached down an arm and picked me up high into the air. "How would you like it if someone ate you?" He opened his mouth and as he slowly inexorably raised me to his lips I could see the cavern of his gaping maw. He began to laugh and I felt his teeth come down on my neck. I awoke with a start lyin on my bed. The pain in my stomach flaring as I sat up screaming. I heard him say, "from everywhere and nowhere I will always be in your dreams" and he has always been. By Susan.
