Plot Assumptions:
A long and arduous war has just come to an
end, but at a terrible cost. The Emperor, Judan Tenno, has disappeared while
personally hunting down the Kurateio and is believed to have been killed in the
process. The Empress, Byozuma Kogo, upon hearing the news has gone into hiding
having bore the Emperor no sons. This allowed the Emperor's cousin, then Mayoko
Hanshu, or Lord, to ascend the throne, his family becoming the new Imperial
Family. But this would not take place for some time, allowing the headstrong
Chotei Hanshu to hold an emergency session, passing several items that would bring them
great profit. One such item was the reopening of Taigoria's ports once more to
foreign trade, sealed long ago by the second Emperor. The Prime Minister, Yujin
Shusho, angered by the Chotei's arrogance, ordered it's immediate disbandment on the
behalf of the Imperial throne and the subsequent reassigning of new Chotei
Hanshu. Unfortunately, Yujin Shusho would not live to see his orders completed,
his body found the morning of the Chotei's disbandment, the katana of Fusei Shogun stuck
firmly in his back. Fusei Shogun was found the following day, he having
committed oibara, or ritual suicide, to escape prosecution. Despite these
events, the Emperor's cousin successfully ascended the throne to become the fifty sixth
Emperor. The road ahead for Mayoko Tenno is a long one, the rebuilding of his
country from the ashes of war and chaos a dark path indeed.
Geography:
The village of Kyushigai, built around the
Takatora Yadoya, or inn (recently named Mycroft's for the convenience of those of foreign
ports), is Taigoria's main port-of-call for trade vessels fairing from foreign
ports. Kyushigai can easily entertain the crew of any moderately sized ship and
possesses enough homes to house many people comfortably.
Judan Castle, built by Judan Tenno to
serve as the Imperial Seat, has recently been given to Mayoko Tenno and his family to
continue serving in it's previous role. It is here that the Chotei gather to go
about the business of running the vast Empire and affairs of state.
Cathedral of the Vinca, constructed by the
Followers of the Vinca as their place of worship in Taigoria, is located on the grounds of
the Kamitenno's shrine. Despite the audacity of their request, the previous
Chotei Hanshu allowed the cathedral to be built on this most holy location.
Does this Guild have Magic Items?: No, this Continuity
has no Magic Items whatsoever.
Factions:
The Imperial Army, led by the Shogun, has
served the Emperor since the days of the Kamitenno. Since then, they have
served as everything from a police force, an emergency relief force and most recently in
it's original role of military force. Now, it's role as a police force has been
reinstated to aid in the restoration of the Empire to it's original glory and splendor.
The Kurato Ninja have existed almost as
long as the Imperial Army. First formed by an angry Hanshu intent on
undermining the Kamitenno, they have since adapted to fit the changing face of the
Empire. Now, with sufficient payment, they will do just about anything they are
asked short of strong-arming.
The Chotei was formed during the rule of
the thirteenth Emperor to make his job easier. They have since become a power
unto themselves, often overruling the dictates of the current Emperor to get their way,
though the Emperor does have the power to overrule their dictates. Made up of
the Hanshu of the six noble families with the Prime Minister getting the final say on laws
in the event of tied sessions, they have frequently become corrupt and biased, denying
certain laws in favor of ones that can fill their coffers with gold.
The Followers of the Vinca have been in
Taigoria since before the war, having special status due to their unique
profession. This extended presence has also allowed them to preach to the
people about who the Kamitenno really was. Despite their truthful words, what
they do not see is all that the Kamitenno did for Taigoria, for if it were not for him,
there would be no Taigoria.
Additional Continuity notes: Please refer to the System section of the Rules page.
