he's
only a dog
He's only a dog, a four-legged beast
And he might be good or bad
And though he is hungry, cold or sick
He might be the pet of some lad.
He was place here on earth for a purpose
And we, as humans, God knows -
Must feed, care and protect him
Whenever he comes and goes.
He's only a dog but he knows no bound
For he looks to us for assistance
In his time of trouble and need.
And so let us care and protect him
Right up to the very end;
For though he's a dog, a four-legged beast
He surely is man's best friend.
