Kenneth Gerken shows serious stings on his back where he made contact with a portuguese man-of-war at Truman Annex Beach in Key West, Florida on 2/13/2004. He was hospitalized at Stock Island Florida Keys Memorial Hospital. The portuguese man-of-war has powerfull venom and can inflict serious stings that can cause life threating events.
