This play was performed at four theaters--in both London and New York--from
1985 to 1987. Rickman's Valmont wooed his audiences with more than 500 performances,
and though it nearly destroyed him emotionally, his portrayal of an eighteenth-century
philandering playboy brought him the attention that furthered his career.

Fair April 1987 issue.
